Our Background & History

Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation was initiated by Mrs (Comrade) Lami Idriss, a business woman and an entrepreneur in local and international business, a humanitarian expert, a community mobilizer. The concept came to be as a result of the pains and suffering women and children undergo during crises period. In most cases the agony they pass through is not their fault but rather because of the fact that they are the most vulnerable in the society. This prompted Lami to start the programme.

A board of trustee was instituted with Five members that sit down once in a month to deliberate and advice of the way forward. In addition to this COWACDI has a board of Directors with wild range of knowledge and experience in humanitarian services with five members, mostly chaired by the head (Lami). The organization is designed to be a non-governmental, non-ethnic, non-religious, non- profit. COWACDI was established in the year 2005 and the process of registration with the Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) was concluded on 5th June 2015 with its registration number CAC/IT/NO 78289. COWACDI headquarters is at No. 10, Behind Federal High Court, Polo Jiddari, Maiduguri. Borno State.
