TREE SEEDLING PRODUCTION

Tree planting improves wildlife habitat connectivity and supports biodiversity. Trees remove harmful pollutants from the air and act as our natural air filters. Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) in Partnership with Christian Aid (CAID) and Funded from World Food Programme (WFP) will focus on a selected fruits tree species to be produced such as Moringa (Moringa oleifera), Guava (Psidium guajava), Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum), Mango (Mangifera indica) and orange (Citrus sinensis). These selected types of fruit tree species have a nutritive content such as vitamins (C, A, B6, and E,) Protein, Carbohydrate as well as provides health benefits, they can also be served for household consumption as well as for commercial purposes thereby generating an income for the household. From the angle of climate change, it can serve as shelter, produce large vegetative cover, and assist in mitigating the effect of climate change. These selected tree species have the potential for soil adaptability and can produce fruits effectively within the target location (Malakyariri Ward of Mafa LGA, Borno state) due to the fertile nature of the soil structure and composition.
