International Women’s Day 2026 Celebration

COWACDI commemorated International Women’s Day under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.” The event brought together women, community members, from #Dala, #Mashamari, #Galtimari Fori, #Bayan Bakassi and stakeholders to reflect on the importance of promoting women’s rights, advancing justice, and taking meaningful action to ensure equal opportunities for all women and girls.

The celebration served as a platform to amplify the voices of women, encourage inclusive participation, and reaffirm our collective commitment to gender equality and empowerment within our communities.

We appreciate the continued support and collaboration of our partners European Union, Norwegian Refugee Council, German Cooperation, GIZ, and the Federal Government of Nigeria in promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Together, we continue to advocate for a society where every woman and girl can thrive with dignity, opportunity, and equal rights.

Cross-Border Seminar

Strengthening Peace Across Borders – Cross-Border Seminar.

As part of its continued commitment to promoting peace, social cohesion, and community resilience in conflict-affected communities, COWACDI convened a Cross-Border Seminar bringing together community representatives, local authorities, and civil society actors from border communities.

The seminar aims to strengthen dialogue, collaboration, and peaceful coexistence across borders. Discussions focused on shared challenges affecting border communities, including displacement and the presence of refugees, while exploring joint approaches to promote social cohesion and community resilience.

The seminar also provides a platform for participants to exchange experiences and identify practical solutions to support peace and stability across the Lake Chad Basin.

This initiative is implemented by COWACDI and @ACI Cameroon, in partnership with @UNDPNigeria, with funding support from the @UN Peacebuilding Fund and the @Lake Chad Basin Commission.

Demonstrating strong dedication and commitment to peacebuilding, the Country Director of COWACDI (Dauda Balami) participated in the Regional Learning Workshop for Civil Society Organizations across the Lake Chad region on Peacebuilding.

The workshop, convened by @lcbc, in partnership with @UNDP and supported by the @PeacebuildingFund, served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, peer learning, and strengthening of locally led peacebuilding initiatives across the Lake Chad.
